About
My name is Ashkan Memarian and I’m a commercial director and filmmaker.
My mom is from El Salvador, my dad is from Iran, and I was born and raised in the suburbs of Southern California. I grew up playing sports, being good at math, skateboarding, and playing drums in my brothers band. But it wasn’t until college that I stumbled into a film class. I entered and won a local PSA competition and that really gave me the bug for commercials.
After school I worked as a production assistant, and then an editor. I eventually started directing small local spots and poof! Here I am today.
In the US I’m rep’d by Sibling Rivalry. They rock. We’re doing some great things together. In Canada I’m with Holiday—some of the best people in the business.
